This small piece of land, near the dramatic cliffs and wild forests of the Ostsee, is a family heirloom, gifted to Sebastian when he and his partner were a young family. Together, they began a family project, crafting two identical wooden cabins with sloped roofs, typical of the region.
Special attention was paid to creating a bright, living space centred on minimalist principles. The open-plan living/dining room is bright and huge glass windows invite your gaze out over the terrace and into the garden, where you’ll spot fruit trees planted by Sebastian when he himself was a boy. The wooden facade blends effortlessly into the surrounding greenery, reminds you of the power of nature to help you switch off and unwind. Upstairs in the master bedroom, you can curl up below the sloped roof, contented in the knowledge that you can spend your next few days lazing on the incredibly beautiful white-sand beaches just a few minutes away.

“A stay here is a return to the basics of what we need: shelter, warmth, nature, companionship.”
Family Springer/Kablau’s insider tips
Rerik Cabin is located on the Ostsee in the village of Rerik.
It's a 3-hour and 15-minute drive from central Berlin.
With public transport, it’s a bit difficult. Get the train to Neubukow Bahnhof (trains from Rostock or Wismar), from where you’ll need to catch a local bus (or order a taxi).
