We at The Staycation Collection are honoured to have a wonderful community of members, and it’s not fair to keep them to ourselves! So, meet Fariya.
Fariya is a self-described “quintessential third culture kid that landed in Berlin 3 years ago after living and working on 4 different continents”. By day, she's a tax justice researcher and advocate, and by night, she's your neighbourhood bon vivant.
We sat down with Fariya for a quick-fire interview to find out a little more about her German travel habits!
Mountains or oceans?
I'd say mountains but with a lake!
Pretzels and beer or Kaffee und Kuchen?
Kaffee und Kuchen for sure - because you can get gluten-free cakes!
B&B or self-catering apartments?
Right now I'd love a charming B&B experience, as I haven't had one in a long time.
City break or digital detox?
City break, please!
Did you take staycations as a child? If so, where?
Yes! I grew up in the UAE (in Dubai) and we would staycation in one of the Northern Emirates or even go into Oman.
What was the last Staycation Collection trip you took?
I recently stayed at The Waterworks in Bad Saarow. It was super easy to get to from Berlin, had excellent facilities, and was situated in a charming town on a massive lake. My only wish is the Therme was open but it gives me an incentive to go again!
What moment from that trip made you smile the most?
Having dinner and drinks by the lake! After a pandemic winter, this was the first sign that things were getting better.
What would your perfect holiday day look like?
Sleep in, brunch on the terrace, a swim (pool/lake/ocean - I’m not fussy!), an afternoon nap, and then a long leisurely walk to dinner before having drinks somewhere cute!
Thanks for sharing, Fariya!
