Member spotlight: Chelsea

We at The Staycation Collection are honoured to have a wonderful community of members, and it’s not fair to keep them to ourselves! So, meet Chelsea.

Chelsea is an English teacher who has been living and working in Berlin since 2019. She's full of life and any email from her puts a smile on our face.

We sat down with Chelsea for a quick-fire interview to find out a little more about her German travel habits!

"I like B&Bs, being catered for in the morning is soooo lovely."

Wild swimming or pools only?

I will swim ANYWHERE! Wild swimming brings me a special happiness though.

Pretzels and beer or Kaffee und Kuchen?

Pretzels and beer.

Kartoffelpuffer or Sauerkraut?

Kartoffelpuffer for sure!

B&B or self-catering apartments?

I like B&Bs, being catered for in the morning is soooo lovely.

City break or digital detox?

A mixture of both city breaks and digital detoxes are important for me.

Did you take staycations as a child?

We took a lot of staycations as a child! Perhaps the most memorable were to the British seaside, where I have the best memories of donkey rides, Mr. Whippy ice creams, and fish and chips in places like Scarborough, Whitby and Skegness. Not the prettiest of places, but really good memories.

Where did you stay that you found via the Staycation Collection?

I stayed at The Circus Hotel this summer, which I won through the Staycation Collection's giveaway. It was so exciting for me and my boyfriend to stay in a beautiful hotel and feel like tourists in our own city.

What moment from that trip made you smile the most?

The moment that made me smile the most was sitting in The Circus' beautiful garden in the morning and enjoying their delicious food. Due to COVID, it had been a long time since we had been sat at a table and served a meal, and the staff were SO wonderful, it made us feel very special.

Where is on your German-travel bucket list?

From the Staycation Collection, I am looking at booking the Volcanic Houses and the Müritz Water Tower for some weekend escapes later in the year.
